Lemonade soda and bacon sandwiches were a popular pairing in the summer cooking activities with Teachers Robert and Regina. By exploring the ingredients, methods and reasons behind each step, children encountered English vocabulary naturally.
Measuring quantities and cutting ingredients into shapes introduced mathematics. Planning each step encouraged organised thinking, while observing changes before and after heating connected the activity with science. Children also practised essential hygiene and nutrition skills.

Teacher Regina introduced refreshing lemonade soda. Children squeezed the citrus fruit and noticed its fragrant oils, then paired their drink with bacon sandwiches, waiting for the bacon to become crisp and the bread to toast.

Teacher Robert was delighted to see cooking build confidence. Children were eager to try making something themselves, explore new flavours and use English in a happy atmosphere while sharing food they had prepared.
